Triumph TR3 1957
For sale this stunning Triumph TR3, the first thing you notice is the beautiful colour combination! The owner felt in love with this colour after seeing a picture of a Triumph TR2 painted in this colour in the Dutch TR magazine. After some research he discovered that this particular TR2 was built in Nessonvaux (B) where clients could choose a with range of colours. In turned out that’s a very basic and period “Green Gray” colour. In combination with its original red interior it looks very beautiful.
61 years ago this TR3 rolled off the production line, on June 3th 1957. The TR3 was the successor off the Triumph TR2 which was built from the year 1953 until the year 1955. The Triumph TR3 was the first production car with disc brakes fitted at the front. His 1991 cc Engine produce 100 bhp which makes this a real no nonsense British sports car.
This specific example was delivered new on June 3th 1957 in the USA. It’s a matching number car. The TR3 is also equipped with an desirable overdrive gearbox. This makes driving a lot more pleasant, certainly while driving on highways. In 2008 JB Classic Cars purchased the TR from Hans Kooij, a well know Triumph TR specialist in the Netherlands. In 2009 the project was sold to an enthusiastic person who started a complete nut and bolt restoration. When the restoration started it became clear that the TR spend his time in an dry climate, the body was very solid and needed minor sheet metal repair. All mechanicals where completely overhauled , and new parts where placed when needed. A lot of effort has been made to keep the original interior intact. It’s very rare to see in interior this old which is still in a very good condition. The carpets are bought new, soft-top and side screens are also made new in black.
A British Heritage trace, and an extensive fill off pictures and invoices comes with the car. If you want further information don’t hesitate to contact us.
